What is web hosting?
A web host provides space on a server for use by its clients to access the Internet. It's like a "home" for websites that is online 24/7, allowing the world to access your website.
All our hosted websites are automatically protected from hackers using our Website Application Firewall (WAF), something you most likely won't get anywhere else! We take the security of your website and our servers very seriously.
Techno Joy provides this web hosting service at a monthly cost of NZ$30+GST, and generally restricts this service to its in-house-built websites only (although we do cater for some others). This includes HTTPS security for all websites. Please read this article for more information on HTTPS and why your website should to use it.
Our hosting facilities are located right here in New Zealand, ensuring your customers don't have the delay that can be associated with accessing websites overseas. We find it very important that your website loads fast!
All website data & databases are backed up daily to a secure remote location (and those backups are in turn backed up securely to two different locations), and website statistics are provided so you can see how many "hits" your website has had.
What is a domain name?
A domain name is the name by which Internet searchers locate you online. It is a unique name with an extension like co.nz .com .net etc and you "rent" this domain name normally a year at a time. We do this for you and send out timely renewal notices should you wish to continue.
Why register a domain name as early as possible?
- Reserve the name before someone else does!
- Create professional looking email addresses e.g. john.smith@yourbusiness.co.nz and info@yourbusiness.co.nz - instead of yourbusiness@your-isp.co.nz.
- ISP independence - If you change your internet service provider you don't need to worry about changing your email address.
The annual fee for registration of a Domain Name is NZ$55+gst (we manage all the technical bits for you), and includes email where applicable.
